Windows 11 has two types of notifications, including those from apps and services and system notifications. Although notifications are convenient as they let you know when you have a new unread message or something that requires your attention, they can also be overwhelming and distracting, such as when an app requires your attention and the icon starts flashing red in the Taskbar.
In previous versions, you had to modify the Registry to disable the feature, but on Windows 11, you can turn off the flashing animation from the Taskbar settings.
This guide will teach you the steps to disable the flashing alerts for apps in the Taskbar of Windows 11.
Disable flashing apps in Taskbar
To disable flashing apps in the Taskbar on Windows 11, use these steps:
-
Open Settings on Windows 11.
-
Click on Personalization.
-
Click the Taskbar tab.
-
Click the Taskbar behaviors setting.
-
Clear the “Show flashing on taskbar apps” option to disable the feature.
Once you complete the steps, when an app tries to get your attention, it won’t flash in the Taskbar.
Enable flashing apps in Taskbar
To allow Windows 11 to show flashing apps in the Taskbar, use these steps:
-
Open Settings.
-
Click on Personalization.
-
Click the Taskbar tab.
-
Click the Taskbar behaviors setting.
-
Check the “Show flashing on taskbar apps” option.
After you complete the steps, apps will flash with a subtle animation with a light red color backplate and red pill, letting you know that your attention is required.
