How to check if Windows 11 22H2 is installed on your PC

Does your computer have Windows 11 22H2 already installed? Here are two ways to find out.

Windows 11 22H2 check version installed

Windows 11 22H2 is the first feature update for the desktop version of the operating system. Although this is an incremental update, it’s not straightforward to determine whether the latest version of Windows is already installed on your desktop computer, laptop, or tablet.

You won’t find the update’s name anywhere in the system, but each release, like Windows 10, receives an identification number. This time around, the feature update is known as version 22H2, which reflects the year (22) and part of the year (H2 or second half) that indicates when the company plans to roll it out.

To confirm the version of Windows 11 22H2 installed on your device, you can use the “winver” command and the “About” settings page.

This guide will teach you the steps to confirm if Windows 11 22H2 is already installed on your computer. (See also this video tutorial with the steps highlighting this process on the Pureinfotech channel.)

Check if Windows 11 22H2 is installed from winver

To check whether Windows 11 22H2 is installed on your device, use these steps:

  1. Open Start on Windows 11.

  2. Search for winver and press Enter.

    Winver check version 22H2

Quick tip: You can also use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut, type the winver command, and click the OK button.
  3. Check if the “About Windows” dialog reads “Version 22H2” and “OS Build 22621.xxx.”

If the dialog shows “Version 21H2” along with “OS Build 22621.xxx” or a higher build number, then that’s another way to confirm the computer has the Windows 11 2022 Update installed.

Check if Windows 11 22H2 is installed from Settings

To confirm that you have Windows 11 22H2 installed from the Settings app, use these steps:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Click on System.

  3. Click the About page on the right side.

  4. Check under the “Windows specifications” section and confirm the “Edition” is “Windows 11”.

    About version 22H2 check

If the “About” page shows the “22H2” number and the build number is equal to or higher than “22621.xxx,” then you are running version 22H2.
