On Windows 10, you can use Timeline to resume activities (such as websites, documents, and apps) that you’re working in the past on the same or different computer using the Microsoft account.
Although Timeline is a very useful feature, it’s been limited mostly for Windows 10 apps and Microsoft Edge. The reason is because it’s up to developers to build this functionality into their apps. However, Microsoft is taking up on itself to expand Timeline support for third-party apps, and it’s now releasing “Web Activities,” an official extension to bring Windows 10 Timeline support to the Google Chrome browser.
In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to add the Web Activities extension to Chrome and get started with Timeline support on Chrome on your Windows 10 device.
How to bring Windows 10 Timeline support to Chrome
If you’re a Chrome user on Windows 10, it’s now possible to make your web activities to Timeline. Here’s how:
-
Download the Web Activities extension from the Chrome Web Store.
-
Click the Add to Chrome button.
-
Click the Add extension button.
-
Click the extension icon.
-
Click the Sign in button.
-
Type the Microsoft account name that you’re using on Windows 10.
-
Click the Next button.
-
Type your account password.
-
Click the Sign in button.
-
Click the Yes button to confirm extension access to your account information.
Once you’ve completed the steps, the Web Activities extension icon will turn blue, and it’ll start tracking your websites making available your activities in Timeline.
On Windows 10, you can quickly access Timeline using the taskbar button or using the Windows key + Tab keyboard shortcut.
By default, your activities will open using your default browser, but you can also click the extension button to switch the behavior to open with Microsoft Edge.
