Update Assistant now installs the Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2), and here's how to download it.

Microsoft has updated the Update Assistant tool to install Windows 20H2 (October 2020 Update), if your device is not getting the new semi-annual update through Windows Update.

On Windows 10, the “Update Assistant” is an utility meant to download feature updates on a computer that isn’t receiving the new version via Windows Update for unknown reasons, and the hardware and software configuration is compatible with the new release. The utility is like the Media Creation Tool, but the difference is that you can only perform an in-place upgrades to the latest version available at that time.

If you’re already running the May 2020 Update, you should upgrade using the Windows Update in the Settings app. You should only consider using this tool to upgrade a device running version 1909, November 2019 Update, or earlier release. Also, before proceeding, make sure to use this guide to avoid problems and errors during the upgrade process.
