You can now download the first “beta” version of Microsoft Edge based on Chromium. After several months of development in the “Dev” and “Canary” channels, the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge is ready for download in the “Beta” channel for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, and macOS.
Although the releases in the beta channel offers the most stable version of Microsoft Edge, the browser is still in the preview stage, features may not work as expected, and new functionalities will only be added once they’ve been cleared the quality testing in the Canary and Developer channels.
If you choose to download and install the beta version of Edge based on Chromium, then you can expect new updates roughly every six week, alongside periodic minor updates to improve security and stability.

Open Microsoft Edge Insider Channels website.

Under the “Beta Channel” section, click the Download button. (If you’re downloading the Edge for Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, click the down arrow button and select the OS.)

Click the Accept and download button to save the installer on your device.

Double-click the MicrosoftEdgeSetupCanary.exe to install Microsoft Edge.
Once you complete the steps, the beta version of Microsoft Edge will install on your device running Windows 10 or older version.
The first beta release of the Chromium Edge is available in 14 languages, and it’s shipping with most the features already available in the Dev channel, including dark mode, tab page customization, extension support from the Microsoft Store, Chrome Web Store, and other Chromium-based stores.
In addition, this release includes a new online tracking protection feature as well as the new Collections feature to collect websites for research, but you must enable these features manually by switching on a flag in the advanced settings.
For businesses, Microsoft Edge beta includes Microsoft Search built-in Bing, Internet Explorer Mode that brings support for old website without the need of another browser, Windows Defender Application Guard, and more feature are coming soon.
