Microsoft is making available Windows 10 build 18237 for PCs enrolled in the Fast ring with the Skip Ahead option of the Windows Insider Program. This is the fifth test preview rolling out as part of the 19H1 (version 1903) development expected to arrive in spring 2019.
Windows 10 build 18237, according to the company, is a small update that adds an acrylic effect, part of Fluent Design, to the sign-in background. “The translucent texture of this transient surface helps you focus on the sign-in task by moving the actionable controls up in the visual hierarchy while maintaining their accessibility” — Microsoft explains.
Along with the new feature, the preview of Windows 10 version 1903 delivers a number of fixes for the Task Manager, Settings, multi-monitor setup, games, Progressive Web apps, Microsoft Edge, Narrator, and more.
In addition, build 18237 also adds a new group policy to prevent the use of security questions for local accounts. This can be found under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Credential User Interface.
Although there are no significant improvements in this release, Microsoft is expected to start rolling out new builds with more new features specific for the 19H1 development in the coming weeks.
If you want to get an early start with the next version of Windows 10, you need to change your device settings to enroll in the Skip Ahead lane as soon as possible as it’s an option available for a limited time for a limited number of participants.
Microsoft is listing the complete set of improvements, fixes, and known issues for Windows 10 Insider Preview build 18237 at the Windows Blog.
