Microsoft is releasing the first test preview of its new Your Phone app for Windows 10. The app is available now for testers with devices enrolled in the Fast ring or using the Skip Ahead option of the Windows Insider Program.
The new app was first unveiled during Microsoft’s Build conference in May, and it’s being designed to access texts, photos, and notifications from your phone on your computer.
Although features will be slightly different on iOS and Android, you’ll be able to receive and send text messages, check all your notifications, and things like drag and drop photos from your phone onto your computer without having to reach for your mobile device.
However, this first preview is only available for Android 7.0 and later, and features a limited to access your recent photos and drag and drop pictures to your desktop.
In future releases, Microsoft is expected to introduce additional features and make Your Phone available on iPhone.
The first preview of Your Phone app is rolling out slowly to testers from the Microsoft Store, and it may take some time for every device to get it.
If you want to check to see if the app is already available on your device, simply make sure that you’re running Windows 10 build 17723 or build 18204, and open the Your Phone app. If you see the Get started or Update Your Phone app button, then the new experience is available to you.
