Office 2019 is expected to release in the second half of 2018, Microsoft says. Although it was said in the past that Office 2016 was the last version without an Office 365 subscription, during the Microsoft Ignite conference in Florida, the company announced that Office 2019 is coming next year.

The next perpetual update for Office is in the works, and it’ll include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, in addition to a server version of Exchange, Skype for Business, and SharePoint.

While the cloud-based suite of Office has been growing significantly, Microsoft is primarily targeting this new version to organizations that still don’t want to use a subscription-based of Office.

If you’ve seen the new feature and changes coming to Office 365, then you pretty much know everything that is coming in the standalone version of Office 2019. However, the new release will include improved IT capabilities for businesses. Excel will introduce new formulas and charts for data analysis, and PowerPoint will get a morph and zoom animation.

Other features will include Windows Ink capabilities, such as pressure sensitivity, tilt effects, and ink replay.

Microsoft says that more details about Office 2019 will be available in the coming months, but don’t expect drastic changes.
