At the new Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, Apple held its annual press conference unveiling a slew of new products, including the futuristic iPhone X, the new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3, and Apple TV 4K.

iPhone X
Apple unveiled the iPhone X (ten), the biggest redesign we’ve seen yet and sets the bar for phone design for the next decade. Or as Apple’s CEO Tim Cook puts it, the iPhone X is the “biggest leap forward since the original iPhone.”
The iPhone X is all about its display and craftsmanship. It’s a 5.8-inch device with a OLED Super Retina Display with 2436 X 1125-pixel resolution (at 458 pixels per inch) that stretches edge-to-edge and removes the home button. However, there is a new tap to wake feature that gives a way to open your phone without the beloved home button, and now, you’ll swipe from the bottom up to go back to the home screen.
The display also features Dolby Vision, 3D Touch, and over 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. (Though, there is a notch cut out at the top of the screen revealing the infrared camera, flood illuminator, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, speaker, microphone, front camera, and dot projector that will take some time to get used to.)
Also, to invoke Siri, you can now use press and hold the new larger button on the side, or simply use the “Hey Siri” voice command.
Starting with this device, you no longer need a fingerprint sensor. Similar to Windows Phones, the iPhone X includes a sensor to unlock your device just with your face. Apple calls this feature, Face ID.
The iPhone X is powered by an A11 Bionic processor, there is also a 12-megapixel dual camera in the back, Apple claims up to two hours longer than the iPhone 7 on battery life, and like the iPhone 8, the new device supports wireless charging.
Apple’s iPhone X is expected to be available for preorder on October 27, and it’ll go on sale on November 3. This is not a cheap phone, you’ll be paying $999 for the base model, and price will just go up with a different configuration.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
The new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus look very similar to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but they introduce a number of design changes with a new glass in the back that matches the color of the aluminum edge of the device.
Inside these devices are powered by Apple’s latest A11 Bionic chip featuring six cores with 64-bit performance. In addition, there is a new graphics processor with three cores to improve gaming performance, specially while playing virtual reality and 3D games.
Both devices also include Qi wireless charging. They come in three colors including, gold, silver, and space gray. And the built-in 12-megapixel camera has been updated to be slightly better than one from the last year model.
Apple will start taking iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus preorders on September 15, and they’ll be available on September 22. Pricing starts at $699 for the 64GB model, while the iPhone 8 Plus with 64GB will be priced at $799.
Apple Watch Series 3
Using a similar profile as its predecessor the new Apple Watch Series 3 sports a dual-core processor, optional built-in LTE cellular connectivity, barometric altimeter, and is now more water-resistant. In addition, running the new watchOS 4 allows you to stream over 40 million of songs from Apple Music.
The Apple Watch Series 3 is expected to go on sale on September 22, and pricing starts at $329 for the base model, and the watch with LTE connectivity is expected to be priced at $399.
Apple TV 4K
On design Apple isn’t innovating its TV box, but the new Apple TV 4K as support for 4K/UHD resolution and HDR (Dolby Vision and HDR 10).
Perhaps one of the biggest announcements is that the 4K content in iTunes will be the same prices as 1080p resolution, and if you have previously purchased an HD movie, the company is going to upgrade your content to the 4K version at no extra cost, free.
The updated set-top box features an Apple A10X processor, which is the chip included in the iPad Pro. The Apple TV 4K is expected to be available on September 22, and pricing starts $179 for the 32GB model, and $199 for the 64GB model.
