What’s new on Windows 10 Mobile build 14946

On this flight, Microsoft is also adding a few improvements specifically for Windows 10 Mobile.

Starting with build 14946, you now have the ability to turn off whichever screen you’re using with Continuum to save battery and preventing screen burn-in.

Screen timeout settings

If you are working on an Office document, your phone screen will sleep without conflicting with your Continuum session. If you make a call, hang-up, or press the phone power button, you can keep right on working in your document with Continuum. In addition, if you prefer longer or shorter timeout values, you can change them independently for the phone and connected screen, using on Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.

Keyboard improvements

On this release, Windows 10 Mobile adds a new mechanism to prevent autocorrection. In the case you see that an autocorrection will happen and it’s not what you intended, you’ll now see what you originally typed as the second candidate. Tapping on that candidate will prevent the autocorrection, and the system will learn your vocabulary over time.

In addition, you can now remove a word from user dictionary. This means that if added a misspell word to the dictionary accidentally, you can now remove the bad entry by tapping the word and tapping the “-” sign before it.

Windows 10 Mobile now changes the backup frequency to once a week. You can always go to Settings > Update & security > Backup to use the “More options” to change the settings.
