  • Google rolls out two major updates for Bard.
  • The first update is the ability to add sources to responses.
  • The second update brings improvements to summarization and quick explanations for different topics.

Google is rolling out some significant improvements for its Bard AI chatbot, including sourcing for responses and changes for better summarization of information.

Originally, responses from Bard only included sources to verify the information if the chatbot grabbed and showed an exact fragment from the web. However, in this new update, things are changing, and now, the company says that Bard can show sources inline within the response.

This means that in specific responses, the chatbot can now identify which parts of the answer match a source. In these cases, you will see a number alongside the response, and clicking the number will reveal the source that you can click to verify the answer.

Additionally, Google is also improving its ability to offer summaries. This means that the Bard AI is now able to summarize an article and provide a quick explanation for a particular topic.

The new changes come only days after the company unveiled a slew of changes coming to Bard, including image support in answers and Google Lens support to provide responses based on an image.

In addition, as part of the coding capabilities, the company announced improvements in sourcing and dark theme support. Furthermore, Google also revealed that it is working on extensions to allow third-party services to plug into Bard, and soon, the chatbot will be able to generate images through a collaboration with Adobe Firefly.

Finally, Google is also catching up with the Microsoft “Copilot” features with the announcement of “Duet AI,” which is the name for the AI features coming to Google Workspace.

On Google Slides, Duet AI will allow users to create original images from a simple prompt. On Google Sheets, AI will help to automate the classification of data and help users create custom plans for tasks and projects. On Google Docs, AI will help users to create drafts, and it will include smart chips to include information about other users and locations. Furthermore, on Google Meet, users will be able to create original backgrounds for video calls.

It’s unclear when Duet AI will arrive for Google Workspace customers, but subscribers can sign up to join the waitlist now through the Workspace Labs page.
