  • You.com launches YouChat 2.0 AI chatbot.
  • The AI chatbot is available for anyone without an invitation.
  • The service provides limited queries, but it’s a good alternative if you’re on the Bing AI waiting list.

You.com, the alternative search engine from California, is launching YouChat 2.0, the next generation of its AI chatbot, and unlike Bing AI, you can access the chatbot without an invitation. Though, the number of queries you can try is limited.

Similar to Bing AI and Google Bard, the smaller search engine that focuses on privacy includes graphics, charts, and code responses in addition to the text-based interface found in the competition.

It’s worth noticing that “You” is powered by Bing search, but it doesn’t include web, news, or videos from Bing in the results.

When you go to “You.com,” you can perform a search like in any other search engine, but you can also use the “YouChat” option to open the chatbot. When you ask a question, the AI will try to answer your query, and on the right, you will see a list of results based on your query.

On the few queries I have tried, the answers were good, but the information provided was incomplete. For instance, I asked, “how to perform a clean install of Windows 11?” The answer was correct, but it needed more details to complete the task.

Some other text answers didn’t include a citation to find the source of the content, and when asking about how it came out with the answer, the chatbot replied that it was its own response. However, in other instances, the answer included citations and a complete list of links, like in a search result for the source of the response.

On the other hand, when I asked the chatbot to create a beach sunset image with AI, the answer was a beautiful picture.

A report from PCWorld says that the company defines the responses as “chat, apps, and links,” and these formats offer a large language model similar to ChatGPT with links to sources, custom apps, and real-time data.

When referring to “apps,” these are information from different sources, such as StackExchange, Reddit, and others. The company says that language models are from 50 different apps, and it plans to aggregate more in the future.

If you are still waiting to receive the Bing AI invitation or are curious about the technology, you can go to You.com and click the “YouChat” option to access the AI chatbot.
