Windows 11 22H2 RTM

Windows 11 22H2 is now finalized, hitting the RTM milestone

Microsoft confirms that build 22621 is the final version of Windows 11 22H2.

  • Microsoft finalizes Windows 11 22H2.
  • The build 22621 in the Beta Channel is now considered the final version.
  • Windows 11 22H2 still needs fixing through cumulative updates before the final release.

Microsoft has completed the Windows 11 22H2, which means that build 22621 is considered the final release. The company quietly noted the milestone in an article discussing the Windows Hardware Compatibility Program changes for Windows 11 on the Tech Community website.

In the article, Microsoft confirms says that the “minimum acceptable build for Windows 11, version 22H2 certification” is RTM (Release to Manufacturer) build 22621. This means that the preview released on May 11 contains the final bits that the company plans to ship as the final version, minus some cumulative updates.

However, since Windows 11 is offered as a service, the RTM label doesn’t mean much, but it indicates that the development has been finalized, and the company won’t be introducing any more features for this version. Instead, the company will focus on releasing cumulative updates to make version 22H2 stable for the final release during the second half of 2022.

If you want to upgrade early, Microsoft is even making available the ISO file for the final version of Windows 11, which still doesn’t have an official marking name.
