On Windows 11, you can calibrate an HDR display with the “Windows HDR Calibration” tool from Microsoft, and in this guide, you will learn how.

If you have a computer setup with a display that includes support for HDR (High Dynamic Range), you should calibrate the screen to allow it to render the best video quality possible when streaming HDR videos or playing games. Although there are many calibration tools you can choose from, Microsoft provides the “Windows HDR Calibration” tool at no cost that can help you balance the details in the bright parts of a scene and the details in the dark parts.

This guide will teach you the steps to calibrate an HDR monitor on Windows 11.

  13. Click the OK button.

Once you complete the steps, the system will create an HDR calibration profile and associate that profile with your display. Then, the system will automatically load the profile when you turn on HDR on that specific monitor.

If you have a multi-monitor setup, you will need to run the calibration tool on each display.

Also, starting with version 23H2, you can use HDR (JXR) images as background wallpapers on Windows 11.
