Microsoft officially announced its new AI-powered version of Bing during a special press event held in Redmond’s headquarters, and even though the company didn’t stream the event, you can now watch the entire event from Bing’s YouTube channel.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was the first person to take the stage at the event to introduce the new Bing with the new ChatGPT integration and described the experience as “your AI-powered copilot for the web.” Then Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, talked about the new developments in search, showed off the new Bing page, and how the new AI capabilities can answer questions in natural language, how users can interact with the service using the new “Chat” feature, and how it can also help to spark creativity.
In addition, the company unveiled the new version of Microsoft Edge for Windows 11 that includes an updated user interface and AI integration, making it easy to access Bing Chat and Compose features right from the browser. There’s even a demo at mark 36:25 that shows Bing being able to convert a piece of code from one language to another.
The company also touched bases on the work being done for safety to minimize misuse of the technology and future developments.
The new Bing is currently available in a limited preview, and anyone can join the waitlist to access the new AI capabilities. The company says it will expand the new experience to millions more users in the coming weeks.
