- Outlook Lite is a new lightweight and fast app for low-end Android phones.
- It’ll be limited to Microsoft email services, excluding work and school accounts.
- The app will be available in July 2022.
Microsoft is reportedly working on a lightweight version of its Outlook app for Android. The app is known as “Outlook Lite,” and according to the company’s roadmap, the app will offer most of the same benefits as the original Outlook app in a smaller app size with faster performance for low-end devices.
The app is expected to be available on all supported markets sometime in July. However, unlike the full version, the Lite variant will be limited to Outlook, Hotmail, Live, and MSN accounts, and school and work accounts won’t be supported.
Outlook Lite isn’t entirely new. According to ZDNet, the company already has a lightweight version of Outlook for mobile devices that is already available in some countries, which means that Microsoft will be expanding it to other markets.
The Dr. Windows website was able to download and install the app to confirm its design and performance on affordable devices, which is faster than the traditional Outlook app for Android.
Although the email client will be limited to the company’s email services, the app still has the same features.
