  • The ChatGPT-like features will come to Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Microsoft is reportedly expected to unveil new AI integration like ChatGPT to its Office applications in the coming weeks. According to a new report from The Verge, the software giant is preparing to demonstrate new AI capabilities for Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint shortly after launching its AI-powered version of Bing.

The report claims that the company plans to announce the integration of the AI language technology from OpenAI and its Prometheus Model for its Office apps sometime in March in a continued effort to keep pushing AI quickly into its products because of Google.

Although it’s unclear the features that will be announced, a previous report from The Information, the software giant has already been testing the text-generating GPT model into the desktop version of Word for the autocomplete feature and to improve writing. In Outlook, for example, the company plans to use AI to improve search results without using a specific keyword and suggest email replies. And for PowerPoint, Microsoft is working on generating graphs and graphics.

Microsoft is clearly moving quickly to push AI into its products to try to be the leader in AI while at the same time being ready to battle with any similar technology from Google. Inside Microsoft, executives are confident that the company is much better positioned than Google on the AI integration coming to Bing and Office products. Analysts from UBS estimate that OpenAI ChatGPT has surpassed 100 million active users in two months, and it’s been reported that more than 1 million people have already signed up to access the preview of the new AI-powered version of Bing.
