  • Microsoft updates the icons of the Windows Recovery Environment.
  • The new icons are available starting on Windows 11 build 25115 and higher.

Microsoft has already kicked off the development of the next feature update of Windows 11 (version 23H2). In the first preview, the company introduced an updated version of the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

The update isn’t significant, but the next time you boot into WinRE to troubleshoot problems with Windows 11, you will find new icons in all the menus (Troubleshoot, Reset this PC, and Advanced Options pages) and for all the available tools.

The new icons are similar to the original ones, but they now have rounded corners, and some of them have new shapes in a continued efforted to make the entire system more consistent.

It’s unclear when these new icons will be available, but since they were introduced in the Dev Channel, we could assume that they may arrive with version 23H2 in 2023.
