Microsoft has announced Windows 11 SE, a new variant of Windows 11 tweaked and optimized for students, and it comes with a new default wallpaper.
The new image background is the same as the bloom available in the original version of Windows 11, but each layer has been rendered with different colors for a more friendly look.
Windows 11 SE won’t be an OS that you will be able to buy and install on any computer. Instead, this is a more restricted version of Windows that will only come pre-installed on the new Surface Laptop SE and other devices from various partners specifically designed for the education market.
Unlike the full version of Windows 11, the SE version won’t include Widgets. Snap assist will only allow snapping windows side-by-side, and apps will always open maximized. The Microsoft Store won’t be part of the experience either, and while administrators will be able to install Chrome, Zoom, and other apps, this is not an OS that you will be able to install apps freely.
According to Microsoft, you could say that “SE” stands for School Edition, but it doesn’t stand for anything.
Since you won’t be able to get this version on your computer, you can at least download the default Windows 11 SE wallpaper from the WallpaperHub website to set it as background on your computer. The website also features tons of other great wallpaper that you can download on Windows 11.
The image is available in its original 2048 x 1153 resolution, but you can also download it in 1080p, 4K, ultrawide, mobile, and for the exact resolutions of Surface devices.
Update November 17, 2021: You can now download the Windows SE wallpaper from the Microsoft Store as a theme for your computer.
