Windows 11 upgrade expands to more eligible computers

Starting immediately more eligible Windows 10 PC can upgrade to Windows 11 through Windows Update.

  • Microsoft announces Windows 11 upgrade for more compatible computers.
  • The rollout expansion is through the Windows Update settings.
  • The company has already crushed almost all the known issues on Windows 11.

Microsoft has begun to expand the availability of Windows 11 to more compatible computers. Although the new version of Windows has been available since October 5, it was only available as a free upgrade for a limited number of devices that met the minimum system requirements. However, on October  27, the company announced its health dashboard website that the new version is now rolling out to more devices.

“The availability of Windows 11 has been increased, and we are leveraging our latest generation machine learning model to offer the upgrade to an expanded set of eligible devices,” – the company said.

Furthermore, with pretty much all the known bugs resolved, Microsoft is further recommending users to upgrade. “We recommend that you upgrade your devices to Windows 11 to take advantage of the latest features and advanced protection from security threats.”

It’s important to emphasize that the company is referring to the availability through the Windows Update settings since anyone can already upgrade using the Installation Assistant. Also, you or perform a clean installation using the USB flash drive, ISO file, or Media Creation Tool.

If you were still wondering when the right time is to upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10, now might be the time to check for updates. However, keep in mind that the rollout is still in the early days, so Windows 11 might still not fully compatible with your system configuration. Usually, it’s a good rule of thumb to wait until three or four monthly updates before upgrading.
