Microsoft seems to have already a working version of its xCloud game streaming service on the web browser. According to a new report from The Verge, sources reveal that the company is already beta testing the service internally.
Although there is already an app to play games from the cloud for Android devices, the web version of the platform will allow gaming through the browser on virtually any device, including iPhones and iPads.
Similar to the xCloud using the app, the one running on the web offers a simple interface that lets you access all the Xbox Games Pass Ultimate library, game recommendations, and the option to resume recently played titles.
As soon as you launch a title, the game will run in fullscreen, and you will need an Xbox controller to play through the browser.
While the web version of the service will make it possible to play games on iPhones and iPads, bypassing the Apple policies that previously made it harder for Microsoft to offer a good customer experience, the company is also planning to offer this option of xCloud for the PC version of the Windows 10 Xbox app.
Since the service is still not officially available, some questions are still unanswered, such as the supported resolution for games through the web browser, what modern browsers will be supported, and when it will be available.
