Microsoft is making available version 80 of its Chromium version of Microsoft Edge (via The Verge), and it’s a significant release as this is the rollout that includes support for ARM-based devices, such as the Surface Pro X.

Although the support for ARM64 processors has been available for some time, it was only available as a limited preview, and those using the version without the support had to deal with performance issues as a result of emulation.

Starting with Microsoft Edge version 80, the browser now runs natively on Windows 10 for ARM, which means that rendering content, switching tabs, and scrolling works much better.

In addition, the latest version of the browser brings support for Dolby Vision video playback, improvements for web apps handling, and various tweaks and fixes.

The new version is now rolling out slowly to users, but you can always download it from the official site for Windows 10, Windows 8.x, Windows 7, and macOS.
