On Windows 10, sometimes, you may need to find and copy the hardware specs of your device for a number of reasons. For example, when you’re troubleshooting a problem, and tech support requires some of the basic information to help you resolve the issue. You are planning to upgrade some of the components, such as memory or processor, and you want to know the current configuration. Or you want to use the information for inventory purposes.

Whatever the case it might be, Windows 10 version 20H2 makes it easy to copy the device specifications (such as processor, memory, and system type)  as well as Windows specifications (including edition, version, and build number) using the About settings page without having to use other tools or commands.

In this guide, you’ll learn the easy steps to copy the hardware specs of your computer to the clipboard on Windows 10 20H2 or higher release.

To find and copy the hardware specs to the clipboard, use these steps:

  1. Open Settings on Windows 10.

  2. Click on System.

  3. Click on About.

  4. Under the “Device specifications” section, click the Copy button.

Once you complete the steps, the computer’s specifications will copy to the clipboard, and then you can paste it (Ctrl + V) on any text document, email, or social media post.

If you don’t see the “Copy” option in the About page, it’s because you’re not running the version of Windows 10 that supports this feature. The ability to copy Windows and device information is available since version 20H2 (October 2020 Update).
