Project Spartan on Windows 10 build 10009

Microsoft is building a new web browser for Windows 10, codenamed Project Spartan, the software maker officially demonstrated the software during the January press event. However, today a few new screenshots leaked onto the web from Windows 10 Technical Preview build 10009 give us a new glimpse of the software.

The version of the web browser included in Windows 10 build 10009 still calls the software “Project Spartan”, as Microsoft still debating on the actual name. In build 10009, the browser is using the new Edge rendering engine, rather than the Internet Explorer 11 flavor of Trident, which improves performance significantly.

Although the screenshots doesn’t reveal everything about the new web browser, Microsoft has confirmed that it will support extension like Google Chrome and Firefox. It will support inking for annotations, reading list capability, and Cortana integration.

Although, we know that Spartan will be new default web browser in Windows 10, Microsoft will continue to ship Internet Explorer 11 for compatibility purposes. Also it’s unclear whether Windows Insiders will get to play with Spartan in the next build of Windows 10.
