Windows 10 Feature Experience Pack releases the Beta Channel

Window 10 20H2 gets a new Feature Experience Pack (120.2212.2020.0) with improvements for existing features, and here's all you need to know.

Microsoft is now rolling out a new Windows Feature Experience Pack (KB4601906) for devices running Windows 10 20H2 (build 19042.662 or higher) and enrolled in the Beta Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This is a small package that only includes a few improvements.

According to the software giant, the Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0 improves the experience using the screen snipping tool. Also, Microsoft is removing the ability to copy and paste screenshots directly into a folder in File Explorer due to a problem with the feature.

On Windows 10, the Windows Feature Experience Pack is a new update process that allows the company to deliver feature improvements to consumers outside of the operating system’s major releases. The package will download and install automatically through Windows Update, similar to installing a new build or cumulative update.

Although using this new mechanism, a lot of features can receive updates, at this time, only some features are being developed independently. Microsoft is just starting the process with testers, but eventually, the new mechanism will be integrated into the existing servicing process for Windows 10.

If you want to receive the pack, you need to be enrolled in the Beta Channel using the Windows Insider Program settings. Then on Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, click the Check for Updates button to install the latest pack. Once the update is installed, you’ll need to restart the device, and then you can check the Windows Feature Experience Pack version on Settings > System > About.
