Microsoft is expected to host a new event on June 24, 2021, to share details about the “next generation of Windows.” The company made the announcement on the Microsoft website without any additional details, other than the event will stream live at 11 AM ET / 8 AM PT.
The news comes days after Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, at the Build 2021 developer conference revealed that the company was preparing to “share one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade” in a separate event instead of during the conference.
While it is unclear what the software giant will be unveiling, the event is expected to include details on new ways developers will build, distribute, and monetize applications and visual elements and features that will be part of the new Windows (Sun Valley).
Some of which include new system icons for File Explorer, Settings, and across the operating system. Auto HDR feature to convert SDR games into HDR content automatically. Redesigned touch keyboard experience and a new version of Voice Typing application to convert voice into text. Linux GUI app support with the Windows Subsystem for Linux, many improvements and features for the Settings app, and a lot more.
Microsoft may even surprise us with a new name (Windows 11) and a new logo for the operating system.
