Microsoft is now rolling out the Windows 11 build 25997 for participants of the Windows Insider Program for devices enrolled in the Canary Channel, with several networking changes and improvements.
According to the official changes, Windows 11 build 25997 allows disabling the “Phone Link” feature from the “Phone Link” settings page. Also, when using a Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Teams will list the contacts in the Share interface.
This update fixes the error 0x80004005 while installing preview builds, Blue Screen of Death problems after an upgrade, and the context menu on File Explorer and command bar dropdowns going transparent.
As part of the known issues, Microsoft continues to note that some popular games may not work. Also, the company is investigating an issue where attempting to reboot into safe mode hangs on the boot logo. Finally, trying to open the “Touchpad” page will crash the Settings app.
Install build 25997
To download and install the Windows 11 build 25997, enroll your device in the Canary Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
Microsoft is also making the ISO file for build 25997 available for download for users who prefer to perform an in-place upgrade or clean installation on Windows 11.
