Windows 11 build 23430 rolls out in Dev Channel

Windows 11 is getting a new preview in the Dev Channel with some changes and improvements.

  • Windows 11 build 23430 is now rolling out in the Dev Channel.
  • The update brings various improvements for notifications and the Settings app.
  • Microsoft is also releasing various fixes and improvements.

Microsoft is now making available the Windows 11 build 23430 for devices enrolled in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This is a minor update with various changes and improvements.

Build 23430 for Windows 11, according to the official changes, introduces changes and improvements for notifications and the Settings app. For example, urgent or important notifications that breakthrough the “do not disturb” feature while using apps at the full screen will now display a “View notification” button to view the content of the notification for privacy.

Starting with build 25330 and higher, the “Alt + Tab” keyboard shortcut and “Snap Assist” features from the Multitasking settings page only allow you to show up to 20 recent tabs.

Also, the company notes that the Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) feature doesn’t work on all devices, even though it said it worked. The new statement is that manufacturers have to enable this feature on supported hardware configurations. As a result, this feature is not available on all laptops or 2-in-1 devices.

As part of the fixes, this update fixes an underlying issue that is causing some Insiders to see an increase in explorer.exe crashes in the last two releases. For input, this flight fixes an issue where text input features like touch keyboard, voice typing, and emoji panel might not launch and a problem where the buttons in the Pinyin IME’s settings flyout were hard to see when they had focus if contrast theme was enabled.

Finally, the Task Manager app improves reliability, and the search box should no longer be cropped at the top when the window is maximized. Also, as part of the Accessibility changes, build 23430 fixes an issue where in Quick Settings, Narrator was reading out the previous page’s title instead of the active page. After downloading voice access, information to help you get started with it should correctly open again now. And this release fixes an issue where popups for voice access weren’t translated correctly.

Microsoft is notes a few known issues for Search in the Taskbar, File Explorer, and Live Captions.
