Windows 11 build 22631.1906 (KB5027311) rolls out in Beta Channel

Microsoft pushes two new previews of Windows 11 in the Beta Channel with a some visual changes, fixes, and improvements.

  • Windows 11 22H2 receives builds 22621.1906 and 22631.1906 (KB5027311) in the Beta Channel.
  • This update introduces new natural voices in Chinese and Spanish.
  • The update doesn’t include any additional changes for build 22621.1906.

Windows 11 build 22631.1906 (KB5027311) is now rolling out with new features enabled by default, and the preview build 22621.1906 (KB5027311) with features turned off by default for computers enrolled in the Beta Channel.

Build 22631.1906 for Windows 11, and according to the official changes, it enables the option to hide the time and date in the System Tray, and by right-clicking on the network icon, you will find the option to diagnose network problems.

In this update, the company is also updating the network flyout on the Lock screen and the Windows Security (firewall) notification dialogs to align with Windows 11 design principles and adds support for bridging adapters through commands using netsh.

In addition, on the “Advanced network settings” page, you will now find an option to access advanced properties for network adapters and internet properties.

You now view the Wi-Fi passwords for your known networks from the “Manage known networks” page in the “Wi-Fi” settings.

On the “Data Usage” page, you can now view daily and weekly data limits. The page will also now show how far a data limit has been exceeded. Microsoft added the ability to join Bluetooth Personal Area networks under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices. When you right-click on a Win32 app in the Start menu or search for the app, choosing “Uninstall” will now take you to the Settings app to remove the app from Windows 11. Finally, the Wheel settings page for wheel devices such as the Surface Dial has been updated to better match the design visuals of Windows 11.

Aside from the improvements for build 22631.1906, Microsoft is not noting any changes for build 22621.1906 other than it addresses compatibility issues because of unsupported use of the Registry. (This fix is available for both releases.)

Install build 22631.1906

To download and install the Windows 11 build 22631.1906, enroll your device in the Beta Channel using the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section.

Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download build 22631.1906 from the “Windows Update” settings by clicking the “Check for Updates” button. However, you will need a device that meets the minimum system requirements to receive the update if you are new to the Windows Insider Program. If the device receives build 22621.1906, you can turn on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle switch to switch to build 22631.1906.
