On January 9, 2024, Microsoft begins the rollout of the update KB5034122 for Windows 10 22H2 and version 21H2. The first Patch Tuesday update of the year introduces various security fixes and continues the deployment of Copilot for Windows 10.
According to the announcement from the official website, the update KB5034122 bumps the version number to build 19044.3930 (21H2) and 19045.3930 (22H2), addresses a shutdown issue after 60 seconds when using a smart card to authenticate on a remote system and a problem that affects the display of a smart card icon.
The company notes that this update continues the rollout for fixes and improvements previously available with the preview update KB5033372, released on December 12, 2023.
Also, Copilot continues to expand through the Microsoft Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) on Windows 10 Pro and Home (version 22H2) devices. However, the chatbot won’t be available for managed devices, nor will it be available for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions.
In addition, the company is making available updates for older versions of the operating system, including versions 1809, 1607, and 1507.

Older versions of Windows 10
Microsoft is also rolling out the update KB5034127 for version 1809, bumping the build number to 17763.5329 and making new fixes and changes available for computers still running this version of the operating system.
Furthermore, Windows 10 1607 received the update KB5034119 that bumps the version to build 14393.6614, and it resolves various problems. Finally, Windows 10 1507 is getting the update KB5034134, which increases the version to build 10240.20402 and introduces some miscellaneous security fixes.

The update is available immediately and will be downloaded and installed automatically through the Stable Channel. However, you can always force the update from Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, click the “Check for updates” button, and use the option to install the optional update.
