Outside of the regular schedule, Microsoft has released the update KB5004760 for PCs running versions 21H1, 20H2, or 2004 of Windows 10. The update is small, and it’s meant to fix a specific problem with PDF documents.
The update KB5004760, according to the announcement, fixes an issue that might prevent users from opening PDFs using the legacy Internet Explorer 11 browser or apps that use the 64-bit version of the “WebBrowser” control. In addition, a PDF might render as just a gray background when using the Adobe Acrobat plug-in.
If you experience this problem, you can download this out-of-band patch from Settings > Update & Security >Windows Update, clicking the Check for updates button, and clicking the Download and install option under the “Optional quality update available” section.
You can also get the standalone version of the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
After installing the update, the Windows 10 version number will bump to build 19041.1082, 19042.1082, and 19043.1082 for versions 2004, 20H2, and 21H1.
