Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 10 build 18234 for PCs enrolled in the Fast ring with the Skip Ahead option of the Windows Insider Program. This is the fourth preview releasing as part of the 19H1 (version 1903) development expected to arrive sometime in spring 2019.
Windows 10 build 18234, according to the company, is a minor update that doesn’t introduce new features, but there’s a slew of improvements (already available in version 1809) and fixes.
For example, in this flight, there are tweaks for File Explorer dark theme. The emoji panel now supports tooltips. The processor usage that CDPUsersvc uses has been optimized. The clipboard history now supports up to 4MB to accommodate the potential size of full screen screenshots taken on high-DPI devices, and a lot more.
Microsoft is taking offline several changes that have previously been available for Insiders, including the ability to rename group of tabs in Microsoft Edge, the performance visualization for the Game bar, and the XAML shadows recently added for popup controls.
In addition, there are a number of fixes for the taskbar flyout, Timeline, Microsoft Edge, Lock screen, Notepad, Microsoft Store apps, Settings, Narrator, Network flyout stuck in “identifying”, and much more.
On applications, Microsoft is touting that the Microsoft To-Do app now includes Ink support on build 18234, and Snip & Sketch now features options to delay a snip for up to 10 seconds. Clicking the New button, you’ll see three new options, including “Snip now”, “Snip in 3 seconds”, and “Snip in 10 seconds.”
Although there are no significant improvements in this release, Microsoft is expected to start rolling out new builds with new features specific for the 19H1 development in the coming weeks.
If you want to get an early start with the next version of Windows 10, you need to change your device settings to enroll in the Skip Ahead lane as soon as possible as it’s an option available for a limited time for a limited number of participants.
