  • Microsoft is introducing the Xbox credit card.
  • This is a Mastercard credit card issued by Barclays.
  • The card will give gamers points to redeem for games and add-ons in the Xbox store.
  • It’ll be first available on September 21 for Xbox Insiders.

Microsoft is partnering with Barclays to create a new Xbox-branded Mastercard credit card without an annual fee available in the United States. The idea of the new credit card is to give gamers a way to generate points that they can redeem on Xbox games and add-ons from everyday purchases

The Xbox Mastercard will launch on September 21, 2023, “exclusively” to Xbox Insiders in the 50 states, with full availability in 2024.

The points you can earn through this credit card are separate from the Microsoft Rewards program. According to the official announcement, the card will give you one point for every $1 spent, and when you have 1500 points, you’ll be able to redeem it for a $15 gift card that you can use at the Xbox store. At the Microsoft Store, the purchase of eligible products will give you five points for every $1 spent. You will also receive three points for every $1 spent when using the card to pay for streaming services, such as Disney Plus and Netflix, and the same amount of points on delivery services, such as DoorDash and Grubhub.

As part of the perks for signing up, you will get 5000 points for your first purchase and three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new Game Pass members, but you have the choice to give it away to a friend or a family member if you’re already a subscriber.

The Mastercard credit card for Xbox users has an APR rate that can go from 20.99 percent to 31.99 percent, and you can choose from five different designs, which you can customize with your gamertag.

If you’re a participant in the Xbox Insider program, you will be able to apply for the Xbox Mastercard credit card starting September 21. Otherwise, you will have to wait until 2024.
