The popular open-source company, Mozilla, has finally brought its Firefox browser to the Microsoft Store on Windows 11. The app comes to the store shortly after Microsoft begins relaxing its policies, allowing developers to list any apps, including traditional Win32, .NET, and web apps.

According to Mozilla, previously, it took many steps to browse the internet, find the download, and then install Firefox on Windows. However, the policies in the Microsoft Store have changed, making it easier for users to install the browser.

The version of Firefox available through the Windows 11 store is the same you get through the internet, and it updates independently, not through the Microsoft Store. However, you can only download the stable version. If you want any of the previews, you will still need to download and install them manually through the internet.

Although you can now get the desktop version of Mozilla Firefox, the problem still is setting it as your default browser since Microsoft made it more difficult to change the settings on Windows 11. Mozilla found a way to make its browser the default with only one click, but this option isn’t available in the Store version.

Mozilla Firefox is available for download now through the Microsoft Store for Windows 11 and Windows 10. However, while searching in the store, make sure you are getting the correct app. Even though the Microsoft Store is improving, and we see more popular apps, it’s still full of worthless apps.

Alternatively, you can always install the stable or pre-release version of Firefox using the Windows Package Manager (winget) command-line tool in Command Prompt. You only need to run the winget install --id Mozilla.Firefox command to install the stable version.
