UPDATED 5/23/2023: Microsoft is now testing the update KB5026436 for Windows 11 through the Stable Channel as an optional install. This is a minor update that introduces a long list of fixes and improvements.

The update KB5026436 bumps the version number to build 22000.2003, and according to the changelogs from the official website (Release Preview Channel notes, it addresses problems with Server Message Block (SMB), Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS), Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) cluster, Event Viewer, networking, and more.

  • Addresses an issue that affects searchindexer.exe. It stops working after you sign out. This issue occurs after you upgrade your machine to Windows 11 Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and sign in to that machine.
  • Addresses an issue that affects Narrator. It does not announce text attributes correctly for words, such as “misspelled”, “deletion change,” and “comment”.

The update download and install automatically, but you can always force it from Settings > Windows Updates and click the “Check for Updates” button.
