Surface Pro 7, Pro 6, Book 3, Studio 2 picked up April 2021 update

Surface devices picked up a number of fixes and improvements with the April 2021 update, and here are all the details.

As part of the April 2021 maintenance rollout, Microsoft has released several updates for its Surface devices, including for the Surface Pro 7 and Pro 6, Surface Book 3, and Surface Studio 2.

These updates are available for devices running Windows 10 version 1903 and higher releases, and they are meant to address problems and improve components like camera, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

According to the company support page, the update for Surface Studio 2 was released on April 7, the one for Surface Pro 6 was made available on April 8, and the one for Pro 7 and Surface Book 3 on April 9.

April 2021 update for Surface Pro 7

Here are the improvements available for the Pro 7 tablet:

  • Intel WiFi 6 AX201 160MHz – Network adapters 22.20.0.6: Improves Wi-Fi stability.

  • Surface Trusted Platform Module 2.0 – Security devices 7.2.2.0: Improves system security and stability.
  • Surface System Aggregator – Firmware 14.312.139.0: Improves battery performance, system stability, and system telemetry reporting.
  • Surface UEFI – Firmware 9.104.140.0: Improves system stability and system USB port identification.
  • Surface Integration – System devices 21.31.139.0: Improves integration between system and pen inking.

The Book 3 laptop received these fixes and improvements:

  • Intel Management Engine Interface – System devices 2040.100.0.1029: Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
  • Surface ME – Firmware 11.8.82.3838: Addresses security updates and improves system stability.

The update should download and install automatically, but you go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually if you have not received it.
