Windows 10 build 18950 (20H1) releases with new features

A new 20H1 preview is available for Windows 10 with several new features and improvements, and here's all you need to know.

Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 10 build 18950 for computers enrolled in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider Program. This the preview number 22 releasing for testers as part of the 20H1 development, and it includes a small set of new features and improvements.

Windows 10 build 18950, according to the company, is a minor update that introduces improvements to the Japanese IME experience, some tweaks to the Snip & Sketch app, and the references to “Cloud download” relating to PC reset or refresh is available, but it’s currently not working.

Here are all the features and changes coming to the next version of Windows 10:

Japanese IME

Starting with build 18950, Windows 10 is updating the Japanese IME with improvements for the Prediction Candidate window key navigation. In addition, Microsoft updated the default assigned value of Ctrl + Space to be “None,” and Ctrl + Space can still be used for toggling IME-on and off by changing the value through its setting.

Snip & Sketch

As part of the improvements for the app to take screenshots on Windows 10, build 18950 introduces single window mode, which opens new snips in the same window, instead of having a window open for each snip when taking multiple screenshots.

You can now zoom in on your screenshots if they’re too small for you to annotate on (and yes, CTRL + Plus, CTRL + Minus and Ctrl + Mouse wheel are supported).

In addition, this flight also is improving the discoverability of the Windows + Shift + S shortcut.

Although there are no ISO files for Windows 10 build 18950, the update is available immediately through the Fast ring. This preview build will download and install automatically on your device, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and clicking the Check for updates button.
