Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 10 build 18219 for devices enrolled the Fast ring using the Skip Ahead option of the Windows Insider Program. This is the third preview that the company makes available as part of the 19H1 development expected to launch in spring 2019.
Windows 10 Insider Preview build 18219, according to the software maker, doesn’t introduce new features or significant changes. Instead, this is a minor update that includes a number of improvements for Narrator and several fixes for Notepad, Task View, Microsoft Edge, and more.
In this flight, Narrator is improving its reliability, and you’ll also find these changes:
- Scan Mode: Reading and navigating and selecting text while in Scan Mode has been improved.
- QuickStart: When using QuickStart, Narrator should start reading it automatically.
- Providing Feedback: The keystroke to provide feedback has changed. The new keystroke is Narrator + Alt + F.
- Move Next, Move Previous, and Change View: When changing Narrator’s view to either characters, words, lines or paragraphs the Read Current Item command will read the text of that specific view type more reliably.
- Keyboard command changes: The keystroke to Move to beginning of text has changed to Narrator + B (was Narrator + Control + B), Move to end of text has changed to Narrator + E (was Narrator + Control + E).
Although there are no significant improvements in this release, Microsoft is expected to start rolling out new builds with new features specific for the 19H1 development in the coming weeks.
If you want to get an early start with the next version of Windows 10, you need to change your device settings to enroll in the Skip Ahead lane as soon as possible as it’s an option available for a limited time for a limited number of participants.
