As part of the regular maintenance schedule, Microsoft is now rolling out firmware updates for its Surface Laptop Go and Surface Book 3 clamshell laptops to address several problems and improve performance and stability.
The updates were released on December 11, and they are available for devices running Windows 10 version 1903, all the way to version 20H2.
Surface Laptop Go December 2020 update
These are the fixes and improvements available for Surface Laptop Go:
- Fingerprint Sensor – Biometric devices 3.15.12011.10134: Improves Windows Hello Fingerprint reader performance.
- Surface System Telemetry Driver – System device 2.27.137.0: Helps power and thermal related data analysis.
- Surface Touch – Firmware 4.1.6.0: Improves touch stability.
- Surface UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) – Firmware 8.12.140.0: Improves system stability.
Surface Book 3 December 2020 update
The Surface Book 3 is getting these changes with the December update:
- Intel iCLS Client – Software components 1.61.251.0: Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Intel Management Engine Interface -System devices 2031.15.0.1743: Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Intel Management Engine Extension 1952.14.0.1470: Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Surface Hid Mini Driver – Human Interface Devices 3.31.139.0: Improves system stability and addresses system bug check.
- Surface Integration Service Device – System devices 6.105.139.0: Improves integration between system services and addresses system bug check.
- Surface ME – Firmware 13.0.1594.2: Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Surface UEFI – Firmware 9.101.140.0: Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Surface System Aggregator – Firmware 10.204.139.0: Improves Battery Smart Charging reliability and improves kiosk mode.
- Surface Book Base v3 Firmware Update 1.61.137.0: Improves Battery Smart Charging reliability and improves kiosk mode.
- Surface DTX – System devices 3.85.139.0: Resolves application uninstallation issues in low power state.
The update should download and install automatically, but if your device has not received the patch, then you can download the firmware manually from Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually.
