If you’ve previously registered to get early access to the upcoming Microsoft Project xCloud game streaming service, and you’ve been selected, then the wait is over. Starting October 14, 2019, Microsoft is officially launching its game streaming service as preview for Xbox users in the United States, United Kingdom, and Korea.
As part of the preview period, Microsoft is making a limited number of games available for streaming, including Gears 5, Halo 5: Guardians, Sea of Thieves, and Killer Instinct.
According to the company, the public preview is a critical phase in the multi-year ambition to make game streaming available globally. “It’s time to put Project xCloud to the test in a broader capacity, with a range of gamers, devices, network environments and real-world use-case scenarios, and this is where you come in,” Director of Programming for the Microsoft gaming network Xbox Live, Larry Hryb says in the official announcement.
If you haven’t registered already, there’s time to sign up, as the company will continue to send invites in the coming weeks.
Before you register, consider that there are a few requirements. You’ll first need a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection (or mobile connection of at least 10Mbps), Xbox controller with Bluetooth, Android phone running version 6.0 or higher of the mobile OS. Also, you’ll need to install and set up the Xbox Game Streaming app.
